Nova Scotia’s roadmap for distributed energy resources
A roadmap sets out a path for customer-sited resources to provide more value to customers and the electricity system.

Today, Nova Scotia Power released the Nova Scotia Distributed Energy Resources Integration Roadmap (the DERIR). The DERIR was developed by Dunsky Energy + Climate Advisors and informed by stakeholder engagement to identify a strategic path to unlock the value of DERs for customers and the electricity system, while supporting Nova Scotia's clean energy objectives.
This work came about as a result of a recommendation from Solar Nova Scotia in a recent regulatory matter on Interconnection Processes. Nova Scotia Power was directed by the Energy Board to undertake this roadmap.
This is an important first step toward a future where distributed energy resources, like customer-sited batteries, can stand alongside traditional power generation, get paid fairly for the value they provide, and help build a more affordable, reliable, cleaner, and resilient grid for all Nova Scotians.
