Expanding public EV charging across Halifax
A snapshot of HRM’s public charging network and planned additions under HalifACT.

Halifax Regional Municipality’s public EV charging initiative supports HalifACT, the municipality’s climate action plan. Public charging can help drivers travelling across the region and those with limited opportunities to charge at home.
The network at the time of the post
The original update reported 11 operational municipally owned sites, with Alderney Landing and Sheet Harbour expected to bring the total to 13 in summer 2026. It reported DC fast charging at seven sites, planned to increase to nine.
The post also identified federal support through Natural Resources Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program. These figures and plans describe that update, rather than a live inventory of available chargers.

A useful network considers geographic coverage, charging speed, accessibility and reliability. Clear location information and dependable operation are important to making the infrastructure practical for drivers.
