Community solar in Nova Scotia: a 2026 snapshot
A historical inventory distinguishes operating projects from developments and the newer provincial program.

Nova Scotia’s community solar story includes both projects developed before the provincial Community Solar Program and projects participating in that newer program. Keeping those groups separate makes the progress easier to understand.
The original update reported approximately 11.35 MW operating and 8.7 MW in development. The supplied inventory includes five operating projects: Berwick, Antigonish, Amherst, Mahone Bay and Pine Tree Park Estates. Brooklyn, Petpeswick and Sydney were listed as in development.
Read the totals carefully
The 20.05 MW headline combines operating capacity with projects still in development. It is not a total of electricity-generating capacity already in service. Within the newer provincial program, the original post described one completed project and three additional approved projects under development.
These figures preserve the original reporting snapshot. The wider lesson is that community solar can involve different ownership models and procurement arrangements, so program participation and operating status should be stated alongside capacity.
